Ripples in the Tsukubai
A bamboo water fountain replenishes a stone tsukubai beside a seasonal arrangement of flowers. A tsukubai is a type of washbasin often found at the entrance to holy places. By washing their hands, visitors purify themselves before entering. These days, tsukubai are often found in traditionally inspired Japanese gardens too, like this one in Gifu Prefecture.
