Face from the Showa Era
The interior of an apartment in an old mining village. The once-prosperous mine produced gold, iron and zinc from the 17th century through to the 20th. As the minerals slowly ran dry, families gradually left in search of work. Today there are no residents left, just empty buildings and derelict living quarters. A woman gazes out from the heights of 1980s bubble-era success on a poster adorning one of the sliding doors.
