Uproad Upriver

Driving up a snowy road to the mountains of Niigata Prefecture, almost everything is blanketed in white and it can become hard to see the forest for the trees. At times like this aerial photography can provide the necessary change of perspective. From above, the stark contrast of the black tarmac on the snow-clad forest calls to mind a meandering river, or perhaps an ancient ink painting of a dragon.
